Abstract :

Out of 147 female genital tracts collected and examined, abnormalities were recorded in 56(38.1%).The most common abnormalities encountered were uterine abnormalities (25.2%), followed by the ovarian(10.9%) and vaginal abnormalities (2%). Among the uterine abnormalities the most frequent lesions, observed in cows were; endometritis (4.81%), mucometra (4.1%), cervicities (2.7%) and cyst in uterine lumen 0.68%. Pyometra, hydrosalpinx and hydrometra were observed both in cows and heifers with (2%) each. Similarly the most frequent ovarian abnormalities were; ovario-bursal adhesions (6.1%),ovarian cysts (2.7%) and ovarian hypoplasia (2.1%). Vaginitis was the most frequent abnormality observed in vaginal abnormalities(2%). In general, the prevalence rate of abnormalities of reproductive tracts was significantly different (p<0.005) between body condition and party status of the animals. The abnormalities were higher in medium body condition cows. These abnormalities were not significantly different (p>0.05) among different age groups of examined animals.
